Dominic Stevenson & Charlene Robinson returned for the fishing Overnight Special.  They caught 3 bream, 15 bass (from Pond 2) and 2 Crappie (from Pond 2).  Lots of fun!

Charlene Robinson & Dominic Stevenson returned for the fishing Overnight Special.  They caught 13 bream and 7 bass.  The big bass were from Pond 3 using the Watermelon Seed lure.  Their bream were from Pond 3 and were caught using crickets.  Those two fishers are helping to keep our ponds healthy... and good eating for themselves!!

Dave Thomas fished the "Overnight Special" where he fished 'catch & release'.  He caught his big bass in Pond 1 & Pond 2.  His results:  Pond 1 - 2 bass, Pond 2 - 25 bass, Pond 3 - 10 bass.  A wonderful fishing experience!  And, those bass are still in the pond for another fisher person to experience!

Dominic Stevenson & Charlene Robinson returned for the fishing Overnight Special and brought Dominic's brother, Thomas Wright of Orangeburg, SC.  They caught 43 bream, 3 bass & 3 catfish using crickets, live worms.  Their best results were in Ponds 2 & 3.

John Campbell, son Jordan, & Charlton McBride returned to fish "Catch & Keep" and brought their friend, Fred Hill of Irmo, SC to take advantage of the Fishing Special.  Fishing from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, they caught a 7 lb 1 oz large mouth bass from Pond 2 using black Berkeley worm lure.  They also used watermelon & black worms to catch their other bass.  They said that the Weedless Frog lure wasn't producing any results that day.  Jordan caught an 'honorable mention' bass.  Congratulations to Fred on the Huge Bass caught!

Dominic Stevenson & Charlene Robinson returned for the fishing Overnight Special.  Using Watermelon Seed lures and red worms, they caught 35 bream, 5 bass and 4 catfish.  They said Pond 2 was great and fishing was working all over the ponds.  Look at the size of those bream!!

Ervin Jefferson and Kenneth Stover brought new customer Ronald Bradley of Columbia, SC where they all got the Fishing Special.  They fished from 9 am to 12 noon and pulled out 3 bream and 5 bass.  They used pink trick worms and weedless frog lures.  In pond 3, they pulled in a bass with a torpedo top lure.

John Campbell and son, Jordan, of Columbia, SC fished from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and caught 9 bass using Trick worms, buzz bait and floating lizards.  All were good sizes and Jordan is holding a prize that his Dad caught out of the Transfer pond.

Dave Thomas of Cayce, SC fished Overnight Special where he caught 15 crappie out of Pond 1 using the lure "Gulp! Alive".  He used crickets in Pond 1 where he caught 3 bass and Pond 2 where he caught 1 bass.  In Pond 3, he caught 1 bass using a crappie jig (chartruse green).  Since he fishes "Catch & Release", these fish are still in the ponds to be caught by another fisherman!

Arriving at 7 am, Dave Thomas of Cayce, SC fished "Catch & Release" for 6 hours.  Here are his results.  He concentrated on fishing for big bass.  He caught 6 bass in Pond 1 using a topwater frog lure.  In Pond 3, he caught all the bass in the pictures below using a Zoom Trick Worm in Junebug color.  The bass weighed 4.8 lbs, 7.3 lbs & 6.4 lbs.  Also in Pond 3, he caught 4 bass using a Senko lure... He indicates that this time of the year for the next few weeks is BIG FISH TIME!!  Congratulations!

Chris & Tina Thomas of Cassatt, SC,  fished AM and caught 17 bass in Pond 3 off the walkabout pier using a Fluke lure.  They also caught one bass on the new dock in front of the Trailer and 2 bass off the North dock on Pond 3.  In the Transfer Pond, they caught 3 bass that were really fat but short.  They released all the females with eggs.  Here they are with the ones they are taking home to eat!

Fred Norchi of Charlotte, NC, and his son, Matt, arrived to fish at 8 am.  They fished "Catch & Release" for 4 hours. They caught 13 bass out of Pond 1 & Pond 2 with the Zara Spook Jr. lure, which is a topwater lure.  Fred's last cast in Pond 2 caught him this fine largemouth bass.  Congratulations!!!

Mike Yarborough of Cassatt, SC, Alex & Jack McCabe of Kershaw, SC, brought Matt Taylor of Kershaw, SC, to experience the PowderKegg Fishing.  The four caught 36 bass and 5 bream. They caught their largest bass in Pond 2, and most of their fish in Pond 1 using watermelon and pumpkin seed lures.  Look at that large mouth bass!  (Also shown below is portion of a lure that worked best.)

Dominic Stevenson of Orangeburg, SC  and Yvonne Robinson of Sumter, SC join up to regularly to 'Catch & Keep' fish at the Kegg.  Using crickets and watermelon seed trick bait, they caught these 18 bass out of Pond 1 around 7 :30 pm.  Having been here 3 times, they choose to be regular happy customers of the Kegg!

April 19, 2014 (Easter Weekend)

Fred Norchi & his son Matt from Charlotte, NC, enjoyed 4 hours of Catch and Release.  They caught 16 bass in Pond 3 using the Sinko lures and the Zoom curltail lures.  Fred said the bass were 12 - 15 inches in size.  His requested comment:  "An Awesome day to spend with his Son!

Dave Thomas of Columbia, SC fished "Catch & Release" from 1:20 pm to 6:20 pm.  His results:  from Pond 1, he caught 5 bass; from Pond 2, he caught 2 bass; from Pond 3, he caught 46 bass!!!   His strategy:  to go to the bank where the wind is blowing up against, there you find the fish!  His lures were Zoom twin tail pumpkin Grubs and soft plastic Flukes that carried a coffee scent.  He said that the best results came from the Flukes.  Both were rigged to be weedless and both were light weight so that they wiggled near the surface.  Dave also said that due to the clear waters, the wind helped distract the viewing of the lures and the bass were biting them.  Here are samples of the lures he used to catch 53 bass!

David Thomas of Cayce, SC continues to enjoy "Catch and Release" Fishing with the PowderKegg February 'Customer Appreciation' Special.  Here is his report:  Pond 1, caught 8 fish on chrome crankbait.  Pond 2, caught 2 fish on Senko bait.  Pond 3, caught 15 fish on white swim jig.  All fish were bass.  Here is one he caught & released in Pond 1!  Congratulations!

'Catch & Release' fishers are reporting 30 and 28 bass caught using Sinko worms (Green Pumpkin & white worms) in Pond 3 and using 4 inch white Sinko worms and Sinko Green Pumpkin worms in Pond 3 (on boardwalk) & Pond 1.  Cold weather doesn't seem to stop the bass from biting those Sinko worms.

Robert Johnson of Sumter, SC returned with his friend, Levern Epps of Bishopville, SC.  They started fishing at 8:10 am and fished all 4 ponds.  Although they caught a bass out of Pond 2 using a cricket, the remaining bream were caught from the Transfer Pond using live worms and crickets.  Each fisher almost caught their creel limit!  A mess of fish!

Dave Thomas of Cayce, SC used gold & silver spinner baits to catch & release 12 bass in Pond 2, 35 bass in Pond 1 and 1 bream in Pond 3... he was surprised that a bream would be caught by a spinner bait.  He said none of his weedless frog baits were working.  He is one of his larger bass caught.

Jordan (10 yrs old) & his dad, John Campbell of Irmo, SC, returned to fish and brought his sister, Logan, age 6 years.  They started fishing at 10 AM and caught these fish in Pond 2 using live worms and shakiehead worms.  Jordan is an Honest Fisher.  He admitted his father caught the bigger bass.  Good Job!

September 2, 2013  Labor Day

Barbara & Terry Huffstetler of Columbia returned the next evening with family members, Tim & Katie Huffstetler of Gaston, SC and family friend Tim Ayers of Irmo, SC.  They brought minnows, but they didn't work, but their crickets sure did!  Here are 74 bream and 3 bass that they caught out of Pond 3.  Some fished 5 hours and two fished 3 hours.  After fishing so successfully, it is fun to play "who caught the smallest fish"!

Joe Johnson and B Jr from Conway, SC area, enjoyed a day of fishing.  Using live worms and crickets, they caught their bigger bream in Pond 3 and smaller bream in Pond 2.  Cleaning all those fish will be an enjoyable activity.

Jordan insisted on fishing on his birthday.  So, his father, John Campbell of Columbia, SC, braved the thunderstorms and got him to PowderKegg to fish from 6 pm to dark.  And Fishing was Great!  Jordan caught these 15 bass in Pond 1 using the Kiwi gig.  This young man knows how to fish! Jeff Haas of Sumter, SC brought his 6 year old daughter, Sidney, and 4 year old son, Barrett, fishing at the Kegg on Saturday morning to fish 'Catch & Keep'.  Using crickets, they caught 23 bream near the Pond 2 feeder pier.  What a great way to spend Father's Day Weekend; fishing in nature.

Casey Whitaker of Bethune, SC got off from work in the morning and went straight to the Kegg to Fish for four hours.   He threw back his bass but kept these 10 bream.  He used worms to catch the bream and pumpkin seed lure to catch the bass in Pond 2.  He said he would have fished longer, but he needed to sleep.

Mike Yarborough of Cassatt, SC and Thomas Gainey of Kershaw, SC arrived at 4:30 pm to fish until dark.  Using the following lures, Mist, Beetle Spinner, Spinner Bait, they were able to catch over 44 fish.  They caught 29 bream and 13 bass in Pond 2.  Pond 3 yielded 2 crappie for them.  What a cache!  Thomas really liked the size of his bream caught.

Mike Yarborough of Cassatt, SC brought friends Alex and Jack McCabe of Kershaw, SC.  Mike's parties always bring in great results.  They started at 3:30 pm and caught these beauties using culprit grape worm lures and black and yellow gigs.  1o bass came out of Pond 3 and 10 bass came out of Pond 1.  They didn't have time to fish Pond 2 because they were too busy in the other ponds!

Dave Thomas of Columbia was successful fishing for Bluegil Bream this time around. He caught this beauty with with a white crank bait in Pond 3.  He also caught 38 bass in Pond 3, 2 bass in Pond 1 and 19 bass in Pond 2, one of which was this 5 lb bass.  He used  tequilla sunrise worms, purple worms and white crank bait.  He fished from 8AM onward.  Congratulations!

Caught 15 bass in Pond 2 using silver rattletrap, one of which was this 9-1/2 lb female bass, which he returned to the pond. Caught 16 bass in Pond 3 using Green Worm and weedless lures.  Caught 1 bass in Pond 1.  This was a great Birthday gift to himself!

Robbie Leviner of Turbeville, SC, returned with his wife, Kathy, and Dwayne Player returned with his wife, Rhonda, and their three sons, Caden (8 years), Austin (12 years) and Cody (16 years), all residents of Turbeville, SC.  They were celebrating Rhonda's Birthday!  While fishing was a bit slow, Cody was the champion fisher.  Although he released some, here is what he took home: Bream, Crappie & Bass.  He used minnows to catch both Shellcracker Bream & Crappie in Pond 3.  He used red worms to catch more Bream.  And he used Watermelon red worm lure to catch the Bass in Pond 1.   They got finished in time to go home to watch the Clemson Tigers and later the Carolina Gamecocks!  What a beautiful day!

Kaylee (8 years old) and Kale (5 years old) traveled with their dad, Keith Balliew from Lyman, SC to arrive at PowderKegg at 7 AM.  Kaylee caught a bream in Pond 2.  Here they are with their Crappie caught in Pond 3 using a worm!  (Those Crappie must be hungry to go for a worm!)  Although their dad Keith had to deal with Interstate roadway constructions during the early hours' drive and minnows that did not make the trip, they all had a great time fishing!  Fishing; a family entertainment!

30 minutes!  Jeanie fished with crickets 6' deep to catch 13 big bream off the covered pier at Pond 3.   And These Bream were Huge! She started at 7 pm and ended at 7:30 pm.  Andrew only had time to bait her hook.  She believes the bream liked the smell of her 'rusty' hook!

Starting a 8 am, this group from Aiken, SC caught 23 bream & 1 bass mainly in Pond 3 fishing about 4 feet deep using worms.  The fishermen are Erick Wertz, Hunter James & Griffith James.  They were accompanied by Martin James.  These fellows know how to have fun & fish!

Starting at 7 am, Bryan Cox of Camden, SC fished 'Catch & Release' and caught the following: In Pond 2 using a green pumkin 10" worm he caught a 9 lb 4 oz. bass,  in Pond 3 using a jig brown chartruse lure he caught a bass over 6 lbs.  In all, he caught about 13 bass.

Delia Smith of Irmo, SC took advantage of our Overnight Fishing Special to bring her friend Faye Fentress of Gaston, SC so that Delia could get her very first fishing experience.  The first evening, they caught a bream in Pond 3 using crickets that was big enough to feed them both! The next day, again using crickets, they caught 10 bream & 4 bass, where most were caught in the last hour of their stay at Pond 2.

Tony Eastwood of Hannahan, SC & Tim Eastwood of Moncks Corner, SC along with Warren Nettles of Guyton, GA took advantage of our Overnight Fishing Special to catch 18 bass, 2 bream & 2 Crappy.  They caught 15 each in Pond 3 near the Trailer.  Due to creel limits, they released most of the smaller fish.  They also fished in Pond 2 & the Transfer Pond.  Here is Tony with his live Bass caught in Pond 3.

Dave Thomas fishing 'Catch & Release'  caught 42 bass from Pond 3 using green zoom trick worm lures fishing weightless on top of the water and caught this 6 lb 2 oz (future so bright).  He also caught 12 fish in pond 2 using a shad colored crank bait.

Arriving at 3:45 pm, Martin James brought Hunter (14 yrs) and Griffith (12) to fish for 3 hours and they caught 10 bream and 3 bass.  They said that all ponds gave up some of the total cache.  A fun time was had by all!

Starting at 7:45 am, Brian Cox of Camden, SC, fished "Catch & Release" for 2 hours in all the ponds and caught 20 bass using 10" watermelon redflake worm lures and blue spinnerbait lures.

Russell Long of Chapin, SC and Robin Owens of Winnsboro, SC arrived a little after 8 am to fish in Pond 3.  Russell used Green Lizard lures and Robin used Motoroil lure.  Even though the weather had brought a cool front over night, the two men caught 30 bass and 8 bream.  Both men agreed that Robin caught the most.  Robin's last comment as he left for the day was "That was Fun!".

6 year old Marcel Shepard of Elgin, SC caught 6 shellcracker bream on Saturday March 17th from 9 am to 12 noon.  He was accompanied by his dad Matthew and his dad's friends, Harding Huff of Blythewood, SC  & Raji Huff of Hopkins, SC.  In addition to Marcel's catch, the guys caught 10 bass.

Arriving at 5 pm on Thursday March 8, Danny & Sarah Norris  of Loris, SC took advantage of our Overnight Fishing Special.  They had a wonderful time, catching 30 bass and 1 bream in Pond 3 along the long walkabout pier.  Danny said that they used the Green Lizard lure.  Even though they have lots of cleaning to do, the size bass that they caught are excellent eating! Also, although they were allowed to stay until 2 pm, they left 1 hour earlier because they had caught so many fish!  Congratulations!!

Starting at 8:30 am and fishing 'Catch & Release' until 11:30 am, Rusty Vaughan of Raleigh, NC and Jerry Geobel of Atlanta, GA caught 20 - 25 bass.  At near 10:30 am, Rusty caught this approximate 9 lb Bass using a grape Power Worm lure with 20 lb test line.  He caught it in Pond 2 off the bank near the dam spillway.  The female bass appeared to be loaded with eggs.  Of course, it was returned to Pond 2.  [Note: For Fish Management, we ask ALL fishers to return back to ponds female fish with eggs.]

What a cold day it was today!  But Jordan Campbell heated it up with his 6 lb 1 oz Bass caught out of Pond 2 using his favorite bait, Bushhog.   He was joined by his dad, John Campbell of Irmo and two fishermen, Charlton McBride of Irmo and Kenneth Jackson of Columbia.  All four arrived at 1:15 pm and fished until 4:15 pm.  These fishers were taking advantage of the "February Customer Appreciation Month" special.  Congratulations, Jordan!

Starting at Noon and fishing until 3 pm, Brian Cox took advantage of our "February Customer Appreciation Month" special and caught at least 40 fish in Pond 2 with 'Catch & Release' fishing.  He said most fish weighed 3 - 5 lb, and he used Green Spinner Bait to achieve his results.

Fishing from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, Brian Cox of Camden, SC is a happy fisher.  He caught this big bass fishing 'catch & release' in Pond 2.  He also caught around 20 bass in the Transfer Pond.  Congrats!

Brian Cox of Camden, SC and Rob Smith of Bishopville, SC  fished 'catch & release' right after a cold front.  They caught several 2 lb bass in Pond 2 and caught this 6 lb 3 oz Bass in the Transfer Pond using a 10 inch plastic worm (watermelon red flake).  [Brian got the picture with his cell phone and emailed it to us.]

After a slow start due to the sudden change to cooler temperatures, Eric Faz of Dalzell, SC, and Robert & William Warnock of Camden, SC pulled in 16 bass with yellow 4" grub lures and purple jelly worms in Pond 2.  Also accompanying the group were John Paul Smith with sons Wyatt & Sawyer of Camden, SC,  Todd Warnock of Camden, SC and Zack Smith of Camden, SC.

Starting at 6:30 am, returning fishers John Campbell, Jr and his father John Campbell of Columbia, SC brought friends Charlton McBride of Irmo, SC and Kenneth Jackson of Columbia, SC.   The four of them caught 25 bream out of Pond 1 and 22 bass out of primarily Pond 2.  John Campbell Jr caught this 7 lb 1 oz largemouth bass out of Pond 2 using a floating worm lure.  What a great way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend!

From 6:30 am to 10:30 am, Tracy McElveen and Jamie Brown with son, Gage, all from Turbeville, SC, caught these 16 bream in the Transfer Pond!  They used plastic worm lures and brokeback rebel lures.  Here is Gage with one of the biggest ones!  Look at the rest of the catch!  Who would have thought the Transfer Pond would yield such gems????

Arriving at 6:20 am, John and Jordan Campbell of Columbia, SC, returned to PowderKegg and brought newcomers John Campbell Sr and Jalen Campbell.  They were fishing for their church function.  Jalen caught this Bass the first cast out in Pond 2 with the brushhog lure.  It weighed 4 lb 1 oz.  They also used spinner bait lures to catch a total of 17 bass.

Chris Thomas of Cassatt, SC caught 12 bass in Pond 2, 2 bass in Pond 3 and 2 bass in Pond 1.  He said that he fished deep.  He caught these bass with Red Shad lures.

Starting at 6:30 am, John Campbell and his 7 year old son Jordan were accompanied by Edward McDowell of Columbia, SC.  They caught 28 bass and 6 bream from Pond 2 using nightcrawlers, white floating worms, pumpkin seed worms, brushhog & lizards lures.  John said he actually caught more, but threw them back in.  Jordan said he caught his big ones with brushhog lures.

Starting @ 8:15 am, David Thomas of Cayce, SC, fished 'Catch & Release' and caught in Pond 2 this 8lb 10 oz bass using black top water frog lure.  He continued to fish until 2:15 pm, at which time, he said that he was exhausted from catching all his fish.  In total, he caught approximately 60 bass and 20 bluegill bream (which he used beetle spin lures).  The Bass in picture was kept out of water only for period of picture taking and gently returned to Pond 2.  David fished mainly in Pond 2.

After a good night of rain, this group convened at 6:50 am to fish for 3 hours.  Included in group was Jimmy Dotts of Lamar, SC with daughter Dakota, Joseph Gardner of McBee, SC , Brent Gardner of Bishopville, SC, Clyde Gardner of Bishopville, SC with sons Dusty & Bailey and Jim Beasley of Bishopville.  In all they caught 18 bream and 18 bass.  Below are pictures of Dusty Gardner with two of his catch, Bailey Gardner with two bass, Dusty & Baily Gardner with more of their catch.  Then a picture of Jim Beasley with his cache.  Next a picture of Dakota with her cache. The  Thomas brothers of Cassatt fished "Catch & Release" at Pond 2 near little dock & walked the bank whereupon they caught 34 bass & 1 crappie using repellas bait.  While trying to reel in a small bream, a hugh bass caught the bream and broke their line.  In Pond 1, they caught 7 bass and caught 3 bream using a beetle spin.

Our overnight fishers from Marion, SC caught 1 bass, 12 bream and 24 crappie.  The crappie were caught at the covered pier in Pond 3 from 7 pm to 9 pm, and 12 were caught the next morning in the same area from 10 am to 11 am.  [Check out our overnight special]

Benjamin Shaw received a birthday gift which allowed him and his friends Joey Quinlann, David Parrat & Hunter Havan to fish 'catch & release' from 10am to 1pm at PowderKegg.  They caught 25 total, half were large mouth bass and the other half were bream.  Benjamin caught 8, Joey caught 6 , Hunter caught 9 and David caught 1 because he was trying out different lures. They said they caught fish in all three ponds using tri-color lures and brown-red plastic lures.  One fish was about 15 inches long.

Steven Morin of Rock Hill, SC fished 'Catch & Release' from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.  His report was that he caught lots of 2 lb. to 3 lb. bass in all ponds.  In Pond 3, he fished shallow depth with bubble gum cincos lures.  In Pond 1, he fished top water while walking along and used watermelon 5" cincos lures.
