Tipping Guides
Knowing the considered 'correct' percentage to Tip a hunting guide that has been successful in helping you get that great experience, can be a challenging concern. It can be embarrassing to both you and the guide if you are not aware of industry standards. You may always tip according to your own feelings. However, at least ten percent (10%) of the 'total cost of your hunting trip' is considered the starting basis for tipping. For example: You attend a hunt and you are successful in bagging that trophy buck of 163 points. At $20 per inch Boone and Crocket non-typical scoring, your investment has become $3,260. That means that your starting point for tipping would be $326. If you also had additional help such as cooks, cleaning personnel or the driver of your meat to a processor, you may want to consider a smaller tip for their efforts. Taxidermy and deer processing are available, but are not included in the above costs. The guides will skin and field dress your deer for an agreed upon fee (usually around $40), or the guides can take your deer to a local processor for an agreed upon fee.
Gratuity (Tips) for guides and cooks are not required, but are greatly appreciated. Our guides and cooks try very hard to see that you get the hunting experience you desire. At the end of your trip, this practice is a stately way to show your appreciation.
Thank you.
