Note:  Compare your Wateree, Santee, Murray lake experiences to the PowderKegg experience.  Now, how many fish did you actually catch at the lakes?  How long were you out there?  Did you use a boat (and all the expenses involved...gas, travel trailer, locating unloading dock, etc.)?  Jeanie has gone many times to those locations, and lots of those experiences were disappointing because she didn't catch a single fish!  Yet, she enjoys catching fish every time she fishes at PowderKegg!
Calling all 'Experienced' Rockfishers - There are lots of HUGE  stripers/rockfish in each pond that need to come out!    Andrew suggests that you use 50 lb test spiderwire lines! And bring a net & friend to pull them in!!!

Steven Morin of Rock Hill, SC fished 'Catch & Release' from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.  His report was that he caught lots of 2 lb. to 3 lb. bass in all ponds.  In Pond 3, he fished shallow depth with bubble gum cincos lures.  In Pond 1, he fished top water while walking along and used watermelon 5" cincos lures.

Ken Nesbith & Jordan Duggan of Sumter, SC caught and released 16 bass and 17 bass respectively.  Ken caught his mainly in Pond 1 on the long walkway and at arched bridge.  He said that they were bigger and more aggressive in that pond!

A father's day adventure.  Jim Beasler & Lester Gardner of Bishopville, along with Mitchell Watford of Lamar, SC brought their sons fishing.  Lester caught a big bass in Pond 3, Jim (JR) caught a big bream in Pond 1 and 2 big bass in Pond 1.   Total of 23 bream and 7 bass.  Here are their sons Dusty Gardner, Bailey Gardner & Kel Watford with their catch.

Charles Gwynn & daughter Meghan of Holly Hill, SC caught these in Pond 2 pier from 10:30 am to Noon.  14 bream and 5 bass.

From 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Sam Hudson & Mike Yarborough caught 23 bream with crickets and 15 bass with red shad curly tail plastic worm lures in front of the Trailer at Pond 3.

From 4:45 pm to 8:45 pm, Mike Yarborough & Stafford Driggers each caught their creel limit!  That's 60 bream & bass out of pond 3!

Cecily, Destiny, & Clarence Quattlebaum of Gaston, SC, and  Bradford, Nichole & Ernestine Gilmore with Joshua Brown of Columbia, SC caught their fish from 7:45 am t0 10:45 am.  Joshua caught the first 3 fish, so the others had him touch their poles for luck!

Cody Haigler caught this bass in the Transfer Pond using a black worm at 5:15 pm!!!  His dad, Jason, and family friend Bill Wetzel caught 13 bream, 5 bass and one good size Crappie.

Chris & Tina Thomas fished 'catch & release' and caught 29 bream & 3 bass in the TRANSFER POND!!!  Lots of the bream were well over 1 lb size.

Pond 3, Caydon Laws and Brother Diamond caught 6 Bass. (Diamond pictured with 2 bass).  Caydon said 2 Huge bass got away from him at Pond 1 near Pine Tree.

46 bass, Catch & Release, 4pm to 8pm.  Mitch Williams of Kershaw, SC  Each bass about 12" long.  21 were caught in Pond 1, Used Rattletraps and some pink worms.  Blue Jig almost caught a hugh bass in Pond 3.

5:30pm to 7pm  Using crickets, 10 bream.  Using minnows, 7 crappy.  [Poached two crappy for dinner; they were so big, neither of us could finish eating them!]

8:15 am to 11:15 am   Using a cricket, Charles Owens, Sr caught this nearly 8 lb Striper (is what Andrew says...we're pulling out the scales from this day forward).  The rest of the fishing party contributed to the total of 39 bream and 2 bass. [I heard talk of using 'beetle spins' when they were going out.]

6am to 8am,  1 bream, 5 bass... but look at the size of one bass!  Edward Woodward of Columbia used a Weedless Frog lure to catch this one.  The lure goes easily over the lily pads!   He said you may email him at emwoodward@mail.com
