Overnight Stall Rental: $50 per Stall (includes bedding & Free 'Riding of Trails' when no 'Trophy Hunts' are scheduled and arranged in advance) Complete Stall Rental contract
'Safety Emphasis' Riding Lessons: 1 Hour Private Lesson $50 [1/2 Hour Private Lesson $25] with your horse or hers. If you would like to ride the trails but have not had any formal training on how to actually ride a horse, Jeanie will personally give you the instructions so that you can ride safely. Jeanie has been riding on foxhunts since 1965 and trained Girl Scouts in summer progams at her riding instruction stable in Winnabow, NC during the mid 1970's. Now retired from corporate work, she has the time to offer riding instruction again. She always emphasizes the importance of safety and correct signaling to horse to help avoid problems. Depending on the willing response of the student, most students can ride on the trails after just one lesson. Stable Safety Rules: helmet and paddock shoes or boots for children and beginners required. Complete Riding Application
Riding Skill Test: $10 per person. To determine the riding skills of a guest in order for that guest to rent or ride a PowderKegg Preserve horse. Must be arranged at least 2 days in advance of any rentals. Stable Safety Rules: helmet and paddock shoes or boots for children AND beginner riders required. Complete Riding Application
Bring Your Horse & Ride the Trails: $30 = Two (2) hours for $15 per 'horse/rider' (Two (2) horse/rider minimum). The entire Preserve is high fenced with a road along the inside of all the fence. Rent a Horse to ride the Trails: $50 for 2 hours per horse. [Fee goes to contracted outside provider of trail horses, and this must be arranged & paid at least 2 days in advance. No discounts allowed] Rider's riding skills must meet with the approval of Jeanie before horse is allowed to be rented. If in question, please take the " 'Safety Emphasis' Riding Lessons" above. Limited Help accepted: If you would like to ride a horse, but are concerned about the investment, we have a work/study program available. In exchange for stable work, you can receive riding lessons. Call Jeanie for details: 803-432-1386.
Limited Riders accepted: If you know how to ride ('hunt seat' preferred), but do not own a horse due to the expense and would like to ride regularly, contact Jeanie for an interview 803-432-1386. No money exchanged.

Early Morning Perimeter Ride Special - $5 per Rider when you bring Your Own Horse - Arrive no later than 7:30 am. Allow 3 hours. Be prepared to be possibly greeted by rabbits, squirrels, deer, turtles, snakes, hawks, turkeys, geese, butterflies, etc....this IS a Wildlife Preserve. Actual ride is about 2 hours long. Bring your horse and ride with Jeanie, weather permitting. Remember to apply fly repellent to your horse's ears, head, etc and use sunscreen or hat for yourself. Carrying a water bottle is recommended. [One (1) Advanced rider may ride one of Jeanie's horses for $20 per rider.
